Mr Wilson as Jose Speckbacher in the Love Test

Theatrical souvenir plate engraved with a portrait of the actor Mr Wilson in the role of Jose Speckbacher in the Love Test. Applied to the portrait is clothing of shaded silk embellished with metal foil tinsel ornaments. The gun, horn, shoes and purse are also of metal foil. The dog lying under the actor's feet is covered with shaded cotton velvet. The portrait has been cut from a paper sheet and mounted onto a wooden board crudely painted with a blue sky. Such portraits would have been sold for 1d plain as theatrical souvenirs for colouring and tinselling at home.
