Mr G. Almar as Coral Crown the Water King
Uncoloured theatrical souvenir sheets engraved with a portrait of the actor Mr G. Almar in the role of Coral Crown the Water King from the play the Cedar Chest. Such plates were sold as theatrical souvenirs.
Almar wrote the Cedar Chest for the Sadler's Wells theatre in 1834. When it was performed at Sadler's Wells the theatre had a retractable stage above a water tank, filled by a river. This was used in the second act of the play, which boasted a water spectacular.
