Bowl
Part of a decorated samian bowl, form Dragendorff 37, made at Les Martres-de-Veyre, Central Gaul by the potter known as X-2. Decorated with a variety of human and animal figures, including draped males, cupids and satyrs, with goat figure and cockerel, with basal wreath. Samian ware is high-quality Roman tableware made in Gaul (modern-day France) and exported throughout the empire. See Stanfield & Simpson, pl 7, 80.
