Cromwell with his daughter contemplating the portrait of Charles 1st. He sits in an armchair, his daughter kneels before him, arms resting on his knees, a dog sits under the painting hanging on the nearby wall. Henri Decaisne was a Belgian painter, 1799-1852. Edward Smith (fl. 1823-49) was a landscape, figure, and portrait engraver.
