Edward Thurman, a mealman (someone who deals in meal crops, such as oats), issued this trade token worth a farthing, for his business near New Exchange, Strand, Middlesex.
Boyne & Williamson (1889) reference London number 2005; Obv inscription: ED.THVRMAN.MEALMAN (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = E.D.T. (triad of initials in Roman capitals, in field); Rev inscription: NEER.NEW.EXCHANG (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = 1664 (in field).
