The Still
William Garway issued this trade token, worth a half penny, for his business at the Sentry Gate, of Gate House Prison, in Westminster, Middlesex.
Boyne & Williamson (1889) reference London number 2764; Obv inscription: WILLIAM. GARWAY. AT. YE. SENTRY (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = A still (in field); Rev inscription: GATE.IN.WESTMINSTER.1666 (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = HIS / HALFE / PENNY / W.A.G. (in four lines of Roman capitals with triad of initials as bottom, in field).
