The Rose Tavern
Mary Long issued this trade token, worth a half penny, for her business, the Rose tavern, in Russell Street, Middlesex.
Boyne & Williamson (1889) reference London number 2434; Obv inscription: MARY.LONG.IN.RVSSELL (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = A rose on a stalk (in field); Rev inscription: STREET.IN.COVENT.GARDEN (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = HER / HALFE / PENNY / M.L (in four lines of Roman capitals, in field).
