The Prince of Wales Feathers

John Hatten issued this trade token, worth a farthing, for his business at the sign of the Three Feathers, in Russell Street, Middlesex.

Boyne & Williamson (1889) reference London number 2433; Obv inscription: IOHN.HATTEN (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = The Prince of Wales feathers (in field); Rev inscription: IN.RVSELL.STREETE (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = I.D.H. (triad of initials in Roman capitals, in field).

"Mr John Hatton" is named in the poor-rate assessment books of St Paul's, Covent Garden, 1651, 1659 and 1663. His house is particularized "on the north side of Russell Street", see J. H.
