Thomas Allatt, a chandler issued this trade token, worth a half penny, for his business in the Round Court, agiainst the new Exchange (later Exeter Exchange), Strand, Middlesex.
Boyne & Williamson (1889) reference London number 2421; Obv inscription: THO. ALLATT. CHANDLER. IN. YE. ROVND (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = A man carrying a sack, and a shovel (in field); Rev inscription: CORT. AGAINST. YE. NEW. EXCHAING (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = HIS / HALFE / PENNY / T.E.A. (in four lines of Roman capitals with triad of initials as bottom, in field).
