The Rose and Sugar Loaf
John Dickenson issued this trade token, worth a farthing, for his business in St James' Market (now Waterloo Place and environs), Middlesex.
Boyne & Williamson (1889) reference London number 2530; Obv inscription: IOHN.DICKENSON.1669 (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = A sugar-loaf I.D (initials in Roman capitals either side of sign, in field); Rev inscription: IN.ST.IAMES.MARKET (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = A rose (in field).
