Social History — C. 1901-1980
Medal, medallion
This badge is in the shape of a Star of David and the inscription reads 'Berner Old Boys' Lodge No.102'. The influx of late 19th century Jewish immigrants to London led to the founding of hundreds of organisations like orders, lodges and friendly societies. Members of friendly societies paid in a sum of money regularly, which they could draw on in times of need. Members also attended meetings where they socialised with people from similar backgrounds.
