Coin, sestertius
A copper alloy sestertius of Emperor Antoninus Pius, ruler of the Roman Empire, AD 138-161. The back of the coin depicts Felicitas, the female personification of prosperity. This coin was minted in AD 145-161.
Obv: Laureate head of Antoninus Pius, facing right. Obv inscription: ANTONINVS AVG PIVS PP TR P COS IIII. Rev: Felicitas, standing left, holding a near vertical caduceus (a staff held by messengers and heralds) in her left hand and capricorn in the right. Rev inscription: FELICITAS AVG / SC in field.
