Coin, sestertius
A copper alloy sestertius of Emperor Antoninus Pius, ruler of the Roman Empire, AD 138-161. The back of the coin depicts Annona, the female personification of Rome's grain supply. This coin was minted in Rome, Italy, AD 150-151.
Obv: Laureate head of Antoninus Pius, facing right. Obv inscription: [IMP CAES T AEL] HADR ANTONINVS AVG PIVS PP. Rev: Annona, standing left, holding two corn-ears over a modius with her right hand and an anchor in the left. Rev inscription: [TR POT XIIII CO]S IIII, SC in field, ANNONA AVG in exergue.
