Coin, sestertius
A copper alloy sestertius of Emperor Marcus Aurelius, ruler of the Roman Empire, AD 161-180. This coin depicts Marcus Aurelius as Caesar (Crown Prince), a position he held under Antoninus Pius, AD 138-161. The back of the coin depicts Victoria, the Roman goddess of victory. This coin was probably minted in Rome, Italy, AD 166-168.
Obv: Draped, bare-headed bust of Marcus Aurelius, facing right. Obv inscription: Illegible. Rev: Victory, advancing left, holding a wreath in her right hand and a palm in the left. Rev inscription: TR P[OT]... .
