Coin, radiate
A copper alloy radiate of Empress Magnia Urbica, wife of Emperor Carus, ruler of the Romano-British Empire, AD 282-283. The back of the coin depicts Venus, the Roman goddess of love. This coin was minted in Ticinum (modern day Pavia, Italy), AD 286-293.
Obv: Draped, and diademed bust of Carausius, facing right, on a cresent. Obv inscription: MAGNIA VRBICA AVG. Rev: Venus, standing left, holding a helmet in her right hand and a transverse sceptre in her left hand, with a shield by her feet. Rev inscription: VENVS VICTRIX, SXXI in exergue, T in field left.
