Circular mount or horse harness fitting, decorated with the arms of King Richard II and his wife Anne of Bohemia. Originally a knight carried a shield decorated with a family design so that he could be recognised in battle. A 'coat of arms' became the symbol of nobility and were added to items like badges and horse harness fittings.
