Pilgrim badge cast tin alloy (pewter) showing crowned head within circular frame inscribed "IANCOVLMAS"; pin at back. No one yet knows what the words of this inscription mean. It is dated to the 14th or 15th century. Over 40 such badges have been found in London. It may be linked to Edward the Confessor.
