Prehistoric — Early Iron Age; 450BC-300BC
Brooch
Cast copper alloy brooch with decorated high-arched bow and large spring coils (Marzabotto type). The sprung pin was later replaced with a hinged pin. There is a cupped recess at the foot which originally held a decorative piece of coral or chalk, perhaps in imitation of a mistletoe or holly berry. Part of the Lloyd collection.
