Mortar, Purbeck marble mortar
Purbeck marble. Fragment from the rim of a mortar, with part of a squared lug on which there is a broken bi-lobed moulding. The rim edge is smoothed as is the
exterior to the base of the lug, below which it is pecked although little survives; interior is smoothed. A hole has been drilled through the thickness of the rim on the
broken edge, countersunk on the inside.
