Saxon & Medieval — Saxon
Pin
This bone pin has part of the triangular head missing. It is an expanded-head pin. There is a bulge towards the end of the pin, which was created to stop the pin from falling out of its place. There is a small indent before the head on one side, which is likely to be accidental, rather than an attempt at decoration. Before the adoption of buttons, pins were mostly used to fasten loose clothing, in addition to brooches, straps and ties.
