Coin, as
A copper alloy as of Titus as Caesar (Crown Prince). Titus was given the title of Caesar on the ascension of his father, Emperor Vespasian, to the imperial throne, AD 69-79. Titus ruled as emperor, AD 79-81. The back of the coin depicts Victoria, the Roman goddess of victory. This coin was minted in Lugdunum (modern day Lyon, France), AD 77-78.
Obv: Laureate head of Titus, facing right. Obv inscription: T CAES IMP AVG F TR P COS VI CENSOR. Rev: Victory, standing right, on the prow of a ship, holding a wreath in her extended right hand and palm in the left. Rev inscription: VICTORIA NAVALIS, SC in field.
