Coin, sestertius
A copper alloy sestertius of Emperor Vespasian, ruler of the Roman Empire, AD 69-79. The back of the coin depicts Salus, the female personification of health. This coin was minted in Lugdunum (modern day Lyon, France), AD 77-78.
Obv: Laureate head of Vespasian, facing right, small globe at point of bust. Obv inscription: IMP CAES VESPASIAN [AVG PM TR P PP COS VIII]. Rev: Salus, seated left, holding a patera (dish) in her extended right hand and a vertical sceptre in the left. Rev inscription: SALVS [AVGVSTA], SC in exergue.
