Saxon & Medieval — Late Medieval; 15th century
Comb
Double-sided one-piece wooden comb. The teeth are broader on one side, and more spaced out. The teeth which are closer together are likely to be for catching lice. To have properly combed hair was an important way of keeping yourself well-groomed, especially at a time when people did not wash their hair very often. Almost all of the teeth of this comb are intact.
