Coin, dupondius
A copper alloy dupondius of Emperor Domitian, ruler of the Roman Empire, AD 81-96. The back of the coin depicts Virtus, the personification of courage and bravery. This coin was minted in AD 81-96.
Obv: Radiate head of Domitian, facing right. Obv inscription: IMP CAES DOMIT AVG GERM COS... . Rev: Virtus, standing right, holding a vertical spear in his right hand and a parazonium (dagger) in the left, his left foot is set on a helmet. Rev inscription: [VIRTVTI AVGVSTI], SC in field.
