Saxon & Medieval — Late Medieval; 15th century
Shoe, ankle shoe
Left foot shoe with a pointed toe. The upper is made in two pieces with a separate vamp (forepart) and quarters (heel area). The impression of the heel stiffener (now missing) can be seen internally. The upper is very worn near where it meets the sole. The sole is one-piece. The shoe is side fastened with a leather thong (remains of which can be seen on each side) at the top of each side seam.
