Sheath
Leather sheath for a dagger and a small knife. The front is decorated with impressed panels containing embossed alternate oak leaves and acorns and 3 lions passant. These have backgounds of small stamped circles. Both the lions and the oak leaves have been enhanced with stabbed dots. On one side at the top is the moulded form of the integral secondary sheath decorated with impressed semi-quatrefoils. The back has impressed decoration in the form of semi-quatrefoils within triangles. There is a side of back seam with edge/grain stitch holes. There are four suspension slots. A secondary sheath or lining can be seen inside the sheath. This sheath was recovered from the bed of the medieval Walbrook.
