Leather, scabbard
Decorated calf leather knife scabbard engraved with the arms of England (a shield bearing three lions) and the arms of Navarre (a shield bearing an escarbuncle). At this time the royal houses of England and Navarre were quite closely connected which might explain why both sets of arms were used to decorate this scabbard. The scabbard would have been hung from its owner's belt using the thong that is still attached.
