Coin, dupondius
A copper alloy dupondius of Emperor Vespasian, ruler of the Roman Empire, AD 69-79. The back of the coin depicts Fortuna, the female personification of fortune. This coin was minted in Lugdunum (modern day Lyon, France), AD 72-73.
Obv: Radiate head of Vespasian, facing right, small globe at point of bust. Obv inscription: IMP CAESAR VESPASIAN AVG COS IIII. Rev: Fortuna, standing left, holding a rudder set on a globe in her right hand and a cornucopia in the left. Rev inscription: FORTVNAE [REDVCI], SC in field.
