The Arms of Andover
This trade token, worth a half penny, was issued for the benefit of the poor of Andover, Hampshire.
Boyne & Williamson (1889) reference Hampshire number 13; Obv inscription: HELP.O.ANDEVER.1666 (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = The arms of Andover, a lion under a tree (in field); Rev inscription: FOR.YE.POORES.BENEFIT (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = A man on crutches ½ (denomination to right of sign, in field).
