Boyne & Williamson (1889) reference Essex number 254; Obv inscription: SAMVEL.IRONS.AT.PURFLET (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = HIS / HALFE / PENY / 1669 (in four lines of Roman capitals, in field); Rev inscription: Lime kill (in cursive script below sign, in field) Device = A lime kiln (in field).
