The Queen's Head
Oswald Ford issued this trade token, worth a half penny, for his business at the Queen's Head, in Witch Street (Aldwych, Strand), in Westminster, Middlesex.
Boyne & Williamson (1889) reference London number 3541; Obv inscription: OSWALD.FOORD.AT.THE (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = Bust of a queen (in field); Rev inscription: IN.WITCH.STREET.1666 (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = HIS / HALFE / PENY (in three lines of Roman capitals, in field).
Wych Street, later Aldwych lay off the Strand, in Westminster, Middlesex; the area is now part of the City of Westminster.
