The Duke of Albermale; of The General Monck
Richard Washbourn, a sutler, issued this trade token, worth a half penny, for his business at the Tilt Yard, Westminster.
Boyne & Williamson (1889) reference London number 3150; Obv inscription: RICHARD. WASHBOVRN.AT. THE (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = Bust of the Duke of Albemale between D.A (initials in Roman capitals either side of sign, in field); Rev inscription: TILT.YARD. SVTLER. 1660 (around field, in Roman capitals) [Boyne has 1666] Device = HIS / HALFE / PENNY / R.A.W. (in four lines of Roman capitals with triad of initials as bottom, in field).
The Tilt Yard (now Horse Guards Parade), lay in Westminster, Middlesex, the area now lies in the City of Westminster.
