The Sugar Loaf
George Bryar issued this trade token, worth a half penny, for his business at the sign of the Sugar Loaf, in Temple Bar without, Middlesex.
Boyne & Williamson (1889) reference London number 3034; Obv inscription: GEORGE.BRYAR.AT.YE (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = A sugar-loaf (in field); Rev inscription: WITH.OUT.TEMPLE.BARR (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = HIS / HALFE / PENY (in three lines of Roman capitals, in field).
