The Three Sugar Loaves
This trade token, worth a farthing, was issued for a business at the sign of the Three Sugar Loaves, in the Stran, Middlesex.
Boyne & Williamson (1889) reference London number 3007; Obv inscription: AT.YE.3.SVGAR.LOAVES (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = Three sugar-loaves (in field); Rev inscription: IN.YE.STRAND.1657 (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = G.M.S. (triad of initials in Roman capitals, in field).
The Strand lies in the City of Westminster, having formerly been part of Westminster, Middlesex.
