The Bell and Maypole
John Dollen, a poulterer, issued this trade token, worth a half penny, for his business by th Maypole, in the Strand, Middlesex.
Boyne & Williamson (1889) reference London number 2970; Obv inscription: IOHN. DOLLEN. POVLTERER. BY (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = A bell and a maypole (in field); Rev inscription: YE.MAYPOLE.IN.YE.STRAND (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = HIS / HALF / PENY / I.D.D. (in four lines if Roman capitals with triad of initials as bottom, in field).
