The Half Moon Tavern
This trade token, worth a half penny, was issued at the Half Moon tavern, in the Strand, Middlesex.
Boyne & Williamson (1889) reference London number 2968; Obv inscription: AT.YE.HALFE.MOONE (around field, in Roman capitals, in field) Device = A half moon and a bunch of grapes (in field); Rev inscription: TAVERN.IN.YE.STRAND (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = I.K.D. (triad of initials in Roman capitals, in field).
The Strand lies in the City of Westminster, having formerly been part of Westminster, Middlesex.
