The Crossed Daggers
This trade token, worth a farthing, was issued for a business at the sign of the Crossed Daggers, in Shoreditch, Middlesex.
Boyne & Williamson (1889) reference London number 2820; Obv inscription: AT.THE.CROS.DAGERS (around field, in Roman capitals, in field) Device = Two daggers crossed (in field); Rev inscription: IN.SHORDICH.1656 (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = E.E.H. (triad of initials in Roman capitals, in field).
Shoreditch, now Shoreditch High Street, lay in the parish of St Leonard Shoreditch, in Holborn, Middlesex; the area is now part of the London Borough of Hackney.
