The Three Brooms
Thomas Woollams issued this trade token, worth a half penny, for his business in New King Street, in th parish of St Giles in the Fields, Middlesex.
Boyne & Williamson (1889) reference London number 2514; Obv inscription: THO. WOOLLAMS. IN. NEW. KING (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = Three brushes hanging from a pole (in field); Rev inscription: STREET. IN. ST. GILES. YE. FEILDS (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = HIS / HALFE / PENNY / T.I.W. (in four lines of Roman capitals with triad of initials as bottom, in field).
St Giles in the Fields was a parish in Holborn, Middlesex; it now lies in the London Borough of Camden.
