The Turk's Head Coffee House
Timothy Child issued this trade token, worth a half penny, for his business, a coffee house, in Russell Street, Middlesex.
Boyne & Williamson (1889) reference London number 2431; Obv inscription: TIMOTHY. CHILD. AT. YE. COFFE (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = A Turk's head (in field); Rev inscription: HOVSE. IN. RVSSELL. STREET (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = HIS / HALFE / PENY (in three lines of Roman capitals, in field).
