The Goat's Head
Edward Tavener issued this trade token, worth a half penny, for his business in Old Street, Middlesex.
Boyne & Williamson (1889) reference London number 2169; Obv inscription: EDWARD.TAVENER (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = A goat's head (in field); Rev inscription: IN.OVLD.STREETE.1664 (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = HIS / HALF / PENY (in three lines of Roman capitals, in field).
