The Three Crowns
Anne Clarke issued this trade token, worth a half penny, for her business at the sign of the Three Crowns, in New Exchange, Strand, Middlesex.
Boyne & Williamson (1889) reference London number 1996; Obv inscription: ANNE.CLARKE.AT.THE (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = Three crowns (in field); Rev inscription: in.ye / Strand.by.ye / new.Exchang / her.halfe / peny (in five lines of cursive script, in field).

New Exchange was a set of buildings that ran parallel to the Strand, in Westminster, Middlesex, see Walter Thornbury, Old and New London: Volume 3, Chapter XVII, The Strand, southern tributaires - continued (London, 1878, pg. 100-101). The Strand now lies in the City of Westminster.
