The Three Tuns
Edwar Usher, issued this trade token, worth a half penny, for his business in Mutton Lane, Clerkenwell Green, Middlesex.
Boyne & Williamson (1889) reference London number 1977; Obv inscription: EDWARD. VSHER. IN. MVTTON. LAN (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = Three tuns (in field); Rev inscription: IN.CLARKENWELL.GREENE (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = HIS / HALFE / PENNY / I.M.R. (in four lines of Roman capitals with triad of initials as bottom, in field).
Mutton Lane, in Clerkenwell Green, lay in Stepney, Middlesex; the area is now part of the London Borough of Islington.
