The Candle?
Gabriel Crannidge issued this trade token, worth a half penny, for his business in Long Acre, Middlesex.
Boyne & Williamson (1889) reference London number 1785; Obv inscription: GABRIELL.CRANNIDGE (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = HIS / HALF / PENY (in three lines of Roman capitals, in field); Rev inscription: IN.LONG.AKER.1666 (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = A man dipping candles (in field).
