The King's Head
Robert Thody issued this trade token, worth a half penny, for his business at the King's Head tavern, in Holborn, Middlesex.
Boyne & Williamson (1889) reference London number 1471; Obv inscription: ROBERT.THODY.AT.YE (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = Bust of King Charles II crowned (in field); Rev inscription: IN.HOLBORNE.1667 (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = HIS / HALFE / PENY (in three lines of Roman capitals, in field).
