Richard Talbot issued this trade token, worth a half penny, for his business near Holborn Bars, Middlesex.
Boyne & Williamson (1889) reference London number 1469; Obv inscription: RICHARD.TALBOT.1667 (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = HIS / HALFE / PENY (in three lines of Roman capitals, in field); Rev inscription: NEARE.HOLBORNE.BARRS (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = R.A.T. (triad of initials in Roman capitals, in field).
