This trade token, worth a farthing, was issued at the Red Lion tavern, in High Holborn, Middlesex.
Boyne & Williamson (1889) reference London number 1454; Obv inscription: AT.THE.RED.LION (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = A lion rampant (in field); Rev inscription: IN.HYE.HOLBORN.1652 (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = L.C.S. (triad of initials in Roman capitals, in field).
High Holborn, lies in the London Borough of Camden, having formerly been part of Middlesex.
