The King's Gate
Thomas Rayner issued this trade token, worth a farthing, for his business at Kingsgate, in Holborn, Middlesex.
Boyne & Williamson (1889) reference London number 1453; Obv inscription: THO.RAYNER.AT.KINGS (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = A gate (in field); Rev inscription: GATE.IN.HOLBORNE.57 (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = T.E.R. (triad of initials in Roman capitals, in field).
