The Golden Griffin Tavern
This trade token, worth a farthing, was issued at the Golden Griffin tavern, in Holborn, Middlesex.
Boyne & Williamson (1889) reference London number 1444. Obv inscription: THE.GOLDEN.GRIFFIN (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = A griffin (in field); Rev inscription: TAVERNE.IN.HOLBORNE (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = T.S.P. (triad of initials in Roman capitals, in field).
