Maud
Wax portrait of Maud, the infant daughter of John Edwards, wax doll maker. The bust comprises the head, shoulders, torso and arms of a young child attached to a wooden base above which is a glass dome. The doll has a poured wax head and arms, painted features, glass eyes and hair eyelashes. The right thumb is placed in the mouth of the doll but the tip has now broken off. The doll is dressed in a bonnet and chemise of cotton, wool and silk. A metal locket lays within the dome and contains paper flowers.
