Samuel Ballat issued this trade token, worth a half penny, for his business at the King's Gate, in Holborn, Middlesex.
Boyne & Williamson (1889) reference London number 1363; Obv inscription: Samuel / Ballat.ye / Kings / gate (in four lines of cursive script, in field); Rev inscription: in / Holborne . his.halfe / Peny.1668 / S.M.B. (in four lines of cursive script, with triad of initials in Roman capitals at bottom, in field).
Holborn, was formerly part of Middlesex, and now lies within the London Borough of Camden.
